The UC Education Abroad Program
In 2002-2003 more than 3,000 UC students are expected to study through EAP at more than 140 institutions in 34 countries worldwide. Through reciprocal agreements, about 800 students from EAP's affiliate universities abroad will attend UC.
EAP offers full-year and short-term programs in a wide range of academic disciplines. Most EAP participants take regular host university courses. In some programs, EAP students study language and take special courses designed for foreign students. In others, they undertake specialized studies in their major and conduct specialized research.
With careful planning, EAP students should make normal progress toward their UC graduation; however, the application of units earned abroad toward major or school requirements depends on the respective UCI departmental and school approval. EAP students earn UC course credit for the work they complete abroad, and EAP courses are recorded on students' official UC transcripts. For more information on opportunities with EAP, check out the
overview of EAP page for graduate students.
