The conferral of your degree may be pending for several reasons, for example:
- Your doctoral committee membership has changed since the time you advanced to candidacy. This pertains only to Doctoral students. If the composition of your doctoral committee changed in any way after your advancement to candidacy, the Chair of your academic unit must submit, in writing, a request detailing the reasons for the Committee's change to the Office of Graduate Studies (Attn: M. Martin). Please check with the appropriate staff contact in your department if you are unsure whether your department has sent such a request to OGS.
- The Office of Graduate Studies does not have anything on record indicating that you have satisfied the language or alternate skill requirements. This pertains only to students whose graduate program requires completion of the language or alternate skill requirement. Please check with the appropriate staff contact in your department if you are unsure if your program has this requirement and if they have sent verification of such to the Office of Graduate Studies. For more information regarding your degree and related policies and procedures please see your faculty graduate advisor. UCI's Graduate Advisor's Handbook provides current implementation guidelines that faculty may use.
- You are not registered or have not completed a Filing Fee form for the quarter in which you are receiving your degree. Please see our sections #3 and #4 for information about registration and filing fee respectively.
- You have not advanced to candidacy for your degree. Please see our section #1 for information about advancement to candidacy.
