This information applies only to foreign graduate students (non U.S.-Citizens) who are:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in their home country; and,
- Desire to do collaborative research or other scholarly work with a professor at University of California, Irvine (UCI); and,
- Plan on visiting UCI for only a short period of time (4 - 24 months);
- Not interested in being formally admitted into a UCI graduate program; and,
- Not interested in earning a degree from UCI.
For this class of graduate student, the University of California has reciprocity agreements with a number on non-U.S. universities through our Education Abroad Program (EAP). To participate in this program, students will need to meet the requirements of the
EAP program.
Another option for foreign graduate students wishing to study at UCI is to participate in one of a number of
International Fellowship opportunity programs available to them. If you are interested in one of these programs, you will need to contact the program coordinator at your current university. The UCI coordinators will not be able to coordinate the application process for you.
In all cases, foreign graduate students will need to identify a specific UCI professor that can provide the specific academic expertise needed to support their graduate education and who will sponsor their visit to UCI. To assist this process, UCI maintains a searchable
Faculty Database that interested students may use to help them identify UCI professors in their field of research and scholarly work.
