Provisional Admission

 

Your admission letter may have indicated that your status is provisional. If this is the case for you, your admission is pending the receipt of certain items such as an official final transcript showing award of the bachelor's degree, official copies of GRE or GMAT scores, or other requirements as noted in the letter of admission you received from UCI.
While a student who is admitted provisionally will be allowed to enroll for their first quarter, all admission provisions must be cleared by the end of the first quarter of enrollment. Nonetheless, we strongly encourage students to meet the terms of their provisional admissions prior to the start of Fall quarter. If students fail to clear their provisional status by the end of the first enrolled quarter, Administrative holds will be placed on their academic records, preventing their registration for future quarters, and their graduate student status can be revoked.
Taking actions necessary to clear provisional admission status is the sole responsibility of the student. For example, if the provision concerns receipt of official GRE scores, the student must contact the Educational Testing Service to forward official copies of their test scores to UCI. If the provision concerns receipt of an official transcript reflecting the award of the bachelor's degree, the student must contact the Registrar’s office at the undergraduate institution they attended to request that they send a final, official transcript to UCI as follows:
