There are a number of helpful national databases that can be used to customize your search for individual fellowship or funding opportunities that you, as a graduate student, may uniquely qualify for. UCI pays for an institutional subscription to two excellent resources that can be accessed from any “UCI” hosted account. These two UCI-subscribed customized funding searches are the Illinois Researcher Information Service (
IRIS) and the Sponsored Projects Information Network (
SPIN). Although there is some overlap between these two, each database catalogues different funding sources and uses different keywords to identify them. Therefore, it is recommended that you try both search vehicles. In addition, you can search the archive of
