Similarly, diversity is a priority for many organizations nationwide who make special funds available to diversity students to assist them in achieving their academic aspirations.
In general, diversity fellowships are open only to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. who may be considered socioeconomically or otherwise educationally disadvantaged within our domestic population. In addition, some organizations (and the U.S. federal government) may define diversity in terms of being an ethnic minority in American higher education.
