Applicant, Admitted and New Student Data

As someone considering graduate study, you probably have questions, such as: “How many individuals apply and are admitted to UCI's various graduate programs, and what are their test scores like?”; and “How long does it typically take to complete the program?”. The links below will take you to pages that help answer these questions and more by providing summary statistics of past applicants for, as well as students enrolled in, each graduate program.

Keep in mind that individual admissions decisions are based on a variety of factors (e.g. the institution from which you received your undergraduate degree; letters of recommendation; etc.), only one of which is the GRE General test result. Therefore, if you’ve taken the GRE, and find that your scores fall below the historical median scores for individuals admitted to the program that interests you, it would be a mistake to conclude that you would not be admitted. Similarly, if your GRE score exceeds the median listed for the program, you are not guaranteed admission, because, again, admission decisions are based on many factors. Most graduate programs at UCI receive applications from more qualified individuals than can be accommodated, so your chances for admission depend upon the make-up of the applicant pool at the time you apply.
